In 2007, Akira Ikeda received Audience Award at Pia Film Festival for his feature film "Blue Monkey."  "Landscape to fly" has won Grand Prize at Fukaya Indies Film Festival in 2008. "Anatomy of a Paper Clip" (2013) won Dragon & Tiger Award at Vancouver International Film Festival, Grand Prize of Tiger Award at Rotterdam International Film Festival.

Hajime Izuki

Hajime Izuki was born in Osaka in 1980.  He graduated from the Visual Concept Planning Department, Osaka University of Arts.  During his time at university, he participated as a crew member for a work directed by Nobuhiro Yamashita.  He also took part in the works of Director Shinya Tsukamoto and Masashi Yamamoto as a crew member, after he resigned from a film production company.  “- × - (Minus by Minus)” is Hajime’s feature debut which was officially invited to the International Rome Film Festival and some national & international film festivals.  It was theatrically released in 2011.  Soon he directed his short film “Who Opens the Door?” which was presented in the Hong Kong International Film Festival and several other national & international film festivals, receiving high evaluation.

■Tatsuo Kobayashi

 

<Profile>

Tatsuo Kobayashi was born in Kyoto in 1985. He received Grand Prize at Kyoto International Student film & Video Festival 2007. He joined "New Directors in Japanese Cinema" project in 2012.

Yusuke Shibata

 

<Profile>

Born in 1980 in Fukuoka prefecture. He has been actively presenting works inside and outside the country that center around the topic of ambiguity and uncertainty of the real world. His recent exhibitions include “BGM” (waitingroom / Tokyo), “Dribble” (Centro Cultural Borges / Buenos Aires), and performance event “Cleaning Disco” presented at “Roppongi Art Night 2013”.

Shumpei Shimizu

 

<Profile

Shumpei Shimizu was born in Kamakura in 1984.  After graduating Meiji Gakuin University, he worked at a maritime company, and in 2013, started studying at Tama Art University, Dept. of Moving Images and Performing Arts.  His first film, "Way Out There", won grand prize at the 26th Tokyo Students Film Festival.  In 2014, he left Tama Art University and started studying at the Tokyo University of the Arts, Graduate School of Film and New Media, where he is currently enrolled.

■Daisuke Shimote

 

<Profile>

Daisuke Shimote was born in 1976 in Japan. Studied at Nihon University College of Art, and received an MSc from Waseda University's Graduate School of Global Information and Telecommunication Studies. Returned to the school after graduation as a visiting fellow to further his study of Yasujiro Ozu. “KURO” is his first feature film. It was invited to twelve film festivals such as Taipei, Haifa, Gijon, Mexico, Warsaw and Tokyo.
